New Contest
I help launch a brand new recipe contest for CBC Vancouver, as immigrants tell stories of special dishes they brought with them to Canada. Prizes include a weekend for two in Whistler for the Cornucopia Food and Wine Festival!
Do you love to share recipes from around the world with family and friends? Do you have favourite family recipes that were brought to Canada when your family emigrated? Do you mix your own culinary heritage with local ingredients to create uniquely West Coast taste sensations? Do you collect recipes on your travels to bring home to share?

Wild Rice
This morning I featured Andrew Wong of Vancouver's Wild Rice restaurant. It's a very funky place to hang out, with great atmosphere and Chinese food with a twist. I wouldn't call it fusion, but updated with fresh approaches to traditional stylings. www.wildricevancouver.com

Turkey Delights!
Here are a couple of recipes by recipes developer Nathan Fong to help you use up any turkey leftovers from the Thanksgiving holiday. I had a splendid 15-pound bird raised by the folks at Skyview Meadow Farm in Duncan, and yes, I got to eat my favourite part of the turkey, the Pope's Nose!

Organic Turkeys
This week I met Leo Deschamps of Organa Farms in Yarrow, BC. He supplies fresh organic turkeys to the Lower Mainland market and this is one of his busiest weeks ever. You can learn more about his farm by visiting his website at www.organafarms.com. The BC Turkey people tell me there are plenty of both fresh and frozen turkeys available this Thanksgiving. For more info and recipes, visit www.bcturkey.com. I also mentioned the Pie in the Sky Fundraising auction this morning. For more info on that see www.alovingspoonful.org.
